An honest analysis of Contasimple pricing in 2026, with the official rates verified on contasimple.com in June 2026. You will see all three plans (including the free lifetime Básico plan), their real cost with VAT, what each one includes, the limits almost nobody checks before signing up and a transparent comparison with three alternatives by profile.

Contasimple has been on the Spanish market for more than 15 years. Owned by the French group Cegid since 2022, it has over 20,000 freelancers (autónomos) and micro-businesses (Cegid's official figure). It positions itself as solid, certified low-cost software, with a permanent free plan that very few competitors offer. Its Trustpilot rating is 3.7/5. It is an honest option for anyone who just needs to comply with the tax authority at minimum cost, without proactive AI or hand-holding.

How much does Contasimple cost in 2026?

Contasimple has three plans, billable monthly or annually. With annual billing the per-month price drops. These are the official prices excluding VAT, verified on contasimple.com in June 2026:

One detail is worth being clear about from the start. The free Básico plan is real, not a trial, but its limit is 12 documents a year (1 a month on average), 5 products, 10 clients and 1 user. It covers issuing basic VeriFactu-compliant invoices, nothing more. As soon as your activity grows a little, it falls short and you have to move up to the Profesional plan. We break it down below.

What each plan includes

Básico (free for life). The permanent entry plan: basic invoicing, VeriFactu generation, 12 documents a year, 5 products, 10 clients and 1 user. For freelancers with very low volume, occasional freelancing or a side activity who just need to issue the odd invoice that complies with the anti-fraud law without paying anything.

Profesional (€10.95/mo on annual billing, €12.95 monthly). The plan that covers the active freelancer. It raises the limit to 500 documents a year and adds the tax forms (303, 130, 115...), bank reconciliation and electronic invoicing. It is the plan most freelancers end up needing as soon as they bill with any regularity.

Ultimate (€15.95/mo on annual billing, €19.95 monthly). The top plan: unlimited documents, products and batches. Built for anyone with higher billing volume who needs to remove the Profesional plan's caps. It costs less per month on annual billing than Profesional itself does on monthly billing, so it pays to compare carefully before choosing.

The real annualized cost with VAT

The website prices exclude VAT. Contasimple states it explicitly with a "VAT not included". To know what you really pay, you have to add the 21% and project it over a full year. This is the real annual cost of each plan, on annual and monthly billing:

For an active freelancer, the reference plan is Profesional: €158.99/yr incl. VAT on annual billing. It is one of the lowest prices on the Spanish cloud market that includes tax forms and bank reconciliation. The free Básico plan covers just enough to issue the odd VeriFactu invoice, but its 12 documents a year leave it out of any regular activity.

For comparison, Facturaz costs €24/mo (€240/yr excl. VAT with 2 months free on annual billing, €290.40 incl. VAT). What is NOT included

These are the costs and limits worth being clear about before signing up.

• OCR and document digitization modules. Automatic expense capture and digitization are sold separately. Contasimple does not publish the price of these modules, so it pays to ask for it before doing the math.
• Documents capped per plan. 12 a year on the free Básico, 500 a year on Profesional, unlimited only on Ultimate. If you issue more than included, you have to move up a plan.
• Very tight Básico plan. On top of the 12 documents, the free plan limits you to 5 products, 10 clients and 1 user. It is enough to get started, but it falls short as soon as activity grows.
• No CRM, no advanced inventory, no projects, no HR. This is invoicing and basic accounting software. If you need any of these modules, look at Holded or an ERP.
• No proactive AI. Contasimple covers the essentials (invoicing, VeriFactu, tax forms) but does not anticipate VAT increases or spot deductions you overlooked. It is a tool that records, not one that advises.

Commitment and cancellation

Contasimple allows monthly or annual billing. There is no mandatory commitment beyond the period you contract, but on annual billing you do not get a pro-rata refund if you cancel before the 12 months are up. The Básico plan is free for life, so you can stay on it without paying as long as you fit within its limits. If you value paying month to month and cancelling whenever you want, Contasimple's monthly billing allows it, though at a higher per-month price than annual.

Who Contasimple is worth it for

Contasimple fits especially well for profiles where absolute cost is the priority:

• Freelancer at a very early stage with fewer than a couple of invoices a month. The free Básico plan covers VeriFactu without paying anything.
• Occasional freelancer or side activity who needs to comply with the AEAT without investing in software.
• Very tight budget where €12.95/mo versus €24/mo is the difference between being able to pay for the software or not.
• Freelancer who only needs the basics: invoicing, bank reconciliation and minimal tax forms, without advanced features.
• Anyone who wants to leave Excel behind and take the step to certified cloud software at the lowest possible cost.

Who Contasimple is NOT worth it for

Contasimple is not the optimal choice if your profile is away from its core proposition:

• Your business grows and will need features. The free plan falls short quickly (12 documents a year) and the jump to Profesional and then Ultimate arrives sooner than you expect. Better to start with a product that scales well.
• You want proactive AI that anticipates tax problems weeks before they happen. Contasimple records, but does not anticipate. For that, Facturaz is designed specifically.
• You need CRM, advanced inventory, projects or HR. They are not there. If you need any of these modules, look at Holded.
• You value automatic expense capture at no extra cost. Contasimple's OCR and digitization are paid modules on the side, with an unpublished price.
• You want to reduce or eliminate dependence on an accountant. Contasimple is an operational product, not a system that replaces the accountant. If you are after tax autonomy with AI, Facturaz goes that way.

Invoicing, treasury and accounting software with a much more modern interface than Contasimple, a (reactive) Genius AI assistant and a network of more than 1,000 partner firms. It is quite a bit more expensive than Contasimple (€30/mo for Solution versus €12.95 for Profesional), but it improves the user experience and the quality of service. Choose it over Contasimple if you value a refined interface and do not mind paying more for it.
